Four Factors To Consider When Buying Cashmere Products

When it comes to quality garments, cashmere is often the first fabric that comes to people’s minds.

Usually people tend to think of sweaters, but actually you can even buy cashmere socks.

Whether it be a sweater or cashmere socks, there are a number of things to keep in mind when it comes to buying products made of this luxurious material.

Here I discuss some of the important factors to consider when purchasing cashmere, but first of all a brief introduction to what it exactly isladies cashmere socks

What Is Cashmere?

It is a material obtained from Cashmere goats, as well as other goats. Cashmere is warm as it is a good insulator, hence making it perfect for everything from sweaters to Cashmere socks – you don’t want cold feet after all, so when you think about it, why wouldn’t there by socks made from the material?

As well as being a good insulator, it is nice and soft, but is strong and light as well.

Things To Bear In Mind

Of course when it comes to quality, there is usually a premium price to pay. It is therefore important to be somewhat wary of any retailer selling a cashmere product at an unbelievably low price. You wouldn’t buy a Ferrari or Rolex at a cheap price, and you shouldn’t buy cashmere cheap either.

Shop Where You Know

As in most cases when it comes to shopping, it is much better to look around places you know, rather than running the risk of picking up a product that simply doesn’t tick all the boxes, or in this case keeps you sufficiently snug and warm.

It is far better to shop at a big retailer or an online store or boutique that you know has good reviews and is trustworthy. Usually cashmere feels extra soft and light, so if the garment you are looking at doesn’t quite feel right, then the chances are it is not 100% cashmere, it may instead be a blend, or use longer fibres than the most luxurious offerings. If it feels slippery it may not keep its shape for long, so this is also something to check when looking at a product.

Other Checks

It is also well worth rubbing the surface of the garment very lightly in order to check the pill potential of a garment, if the fibre begins to roll up or shed quite easily then this might indicate there is a little too much short-fibre in the item.

Finally, a good solid colour to the item is usually a sign the product has been involved in a top quality dying process and that the yarn started off very clean – all very important to the final product.

So from Cashmere socks to sweaters, if you keep these factors in mind, you can sure you will pick up a product that is certain to keep you nice and warm, as well as making sure you pick an item that will stand the test of time and not end up at the bottom of the wardrobe forgotten about
